Bookkeeping, without the fog.

Straight answers about records, VAT, MTD for Income Tax, payroll, software, catch-up work and working with your accountant.

A bookkeeper keeps the day-to-day financial records organised: sales, purchases, expenses, bank reconciliations, VAT records and reports. The work gives you and your accountant clean information to use.
Bookkeeping handles the regular record keeping. Accounting usually builds on those records for tax planning, statutory accounts and wider advice. Coastal Balance can liaise with your accountant so the handover is clearer.

Yes. Catch-up work is scoped separately so the backlog can be understood, prioritised and brought into order before an ongoing routine is agreed.

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax requires affected sole traders and landlords to keep digital records and use compatible software to send HMRC quarterly summaries of their self-employment and property income and expenses. It is being introduced in stages for people with qualifying income over £50,000 from 6 April 2026, over £30,000 from 6 April 2027 and over £20,000 from 6 April 2028. Qualifying income means gross income from self-employment and property before expenses. Quarterly updates are summaries, not tax returns. Vikki can help set up and maintain your digital records and submit the quarterly updates, while your accountant continues to handle your Self Assessment and final accounts. You can check the latest eligibility rules in the official HMRC guidance.
Coastal Balance does not complete Self Assessment tax returns or final accounts, but Vikki is happy to update and prepare your bookkeeping records so your accountant has the information needed to complete them.
No. A good bookkeeper and accountant do different but connected work. Coastal Balance keeps the records clean and current so your accountant has better information to work from.
